Our care
Birth support
The birth of your child is a unique and intense moment. A midwife is the care provider par excellence for supporting a normal labour and birth.
We provide one-to-one support, with attention to the medical as well as the emotional and mental side. Within our team this is offered by midwives Laurine and Liese.
What does it involve?
- Staying home as long as possible in familiar surroundings
- Support during contractions (positions, breathing, relaxation)
- Medical follow-up and assessment of labour
- Support at a hospital birth
- Assistance at a home birth
The value of continuous support
Research shows that continuous support by a midwife during labour can contribute to:
- more calm, trust and emotional safety during the birth
- a lower chance of medical interventions (such as an epidural or instrumental birth)
- a shorter or better-experienced labour for some women
- a more positive recollection of the birth experience
In addition, partners often feel better supported and able to take a more active part in the birth, without feeling “on the sidelines”.
Our view
We believe birth is not a standard process, but an intense life moment that calls for care, calm and trust. By being continuously present, we can respond to what you need at that moment: medically, emotionally and practically.
Practical
Birth support is possible on specific request and is discussed together in advance. It requires a commitment from both you and the midwife and involves an extra investment.
