Our care
Lactation consultant
At Juno we believe in the power of breastfeeding, but we also know the start doesn’t always come naturally.
Doubts, questions or difficult moments are completely normal, which is exactly why good support in that first period is so valuable. Breastfeeding is natural, but every mum and baby are different. Together we look for what works for you, in a way that is feasible and feels right. Support is provided by your midwife at home, with the help of lactation consultant Laurine when extra expertise is needed.
From September 2026, midwives Loes and Liese will start their training as lactation consultants, because we believe that every breastfeeding journey deserves the best chances, and we want to support families even better.
Our support includes

- breastfeeding information sessions
- starting breastfeeding and (first) latching
- support with a correct position and latch
- monitoring milk supply and your baby’s weight gain
- support with pain, cracks or sensitivity
- advice with engorgement or possible mastitis
- help combining breastfeeding and pumping
- support with supplementing or weaning
We always look at the whole picture: baby, mum and you as a family.
When extra lactation support is worthwhile

Some situations call for extra follow-up or specialised support. Within Juno we can help in a targeted way.
During pregnancy
Breastfeeding preparation can be especially valuable with:
- PCOS or hormonal challenges
- (gestational) diabetes
- a planned caesarean
- earlier breastfeeding difficulties
- breast surgery (such as reduction or augmentation)
- multiples
- suspected anatomical challenges in the baby (e.g. cleft)
- chronic illness
After the birth
We guide and support with, among others:
- a difficult or traumatic birth
- issues with mouth anatomy (short tongue tie, oral tension)
- positional preference or asymmetric feeding
- pain or difficulty latching
- prematurity or dysmaturity
- multiples
- combined feeding
- insufficient or excessive milk supply
- mastitis or recurring breast infections
- nipple problems or painful breastfeeding
- bottle refusal
In these situations an early, targeted approach is often essential to make breastfeeding comfortable and feasible.
Why support matters so much

Research shows that good breastfeeding support:
- increases the chance of successful breastfeeding
- can reduce pain and complications
- strengthens parents’ confidence
- helps to spot and adjust problems early
