Our care
Prenatal care
Pregnancy brings many changes: physical, emotional and mental. It is a special time in which professional support can be of great value.
Already followed by your gynaecologist or GP? A midwife can still play an important role in supporting a pregnancy. Pregnancies are followed up well medically, and that matters. Yet something is sometimes still missing. That is exactly the part we add as a midwife!
A midwife can mean so much more than just the medical support of your pregnancy. Someone who is easy to reach, listens without judgement and guides you through all the questions, doubts and changes that pregnancy and parenthood bring. A midwife stands beside you as a trusted person, source of information and support, from pregnancy until well after the birth.
Introductory meeting

A first meeting, entirely without obligation
Are you considering midwifery care? Then we like to start with an introductory meeting. A first meeting in which we calmly take the time to get to know each other, answer your questions and look at how we can support you.
You can contact us in the way that feels most comfortable to you:
- by phone
- via WhatsApp
- by message
- by email
During this first contact we look together for a time that suits everyone to meet.
What can you expect?
For the introductory meeting we come to your home (or welcome you in midwife Eline’s practice). During this meeting we take the time to:
- explain more about how we work
- listen to your expectations and wishes
- get to know each other better
- answer first questions
- look at how we can support you
An introductory meeting takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. We think it’s important that it feels right on both sides. That’s why we don’t open an official file yet during this meeting. Afterwards you get all the time you need to let the information settle and to decide whether you’d like us to support you.
When should I plan an introductory meeting?
Really from the moment you feel you’d like a midwife by your side. Even early in pregnancy we can already mean a lot to you. The sooner we get to know each other, the longer we can support you. Getting to know us later in pregnancy? You’re just as welcome. It’s never too late to call in a midwife.
And with a next pregnancy?
We love supporting families again during a second, third or later pregnancy. Even if we followed you before, we’re glad to plan another meeting. Every pregnancy, every baby and every family is different. So we like to take the time again to listen to your story, expectations and needs for this new period.
Support from your midwife

Midwives monitor the health of mum and baby through medical checks and pregnancy follow-up, but also pay attention to the wellbeing of you as a family. Pregnancy brings not only physical changes, but also emotional, mental and relational ones that call for clear and caring support.
We take the time to:
- listen to how you’re really doing
- give clear information
- respond to your questions and worries
Together we plan tailored prenatal consultations, according to your needs and pace. You are entitled to 12 prenatal consultations with the midwife. In cooperation with the hospital following you, we plan a few fixed contact moments during pregnancy.
What happens during a consultation?
During a consultation we combine medical follow-up with personal support:
- Getting to know each other and general information (first consultation)
- Follow-up of pregnancy and general wellbeing
- Room for your story: how are you really doing?
- Medical checks (blood pressure, urine check, growth of the uterus …)
- Determining the position and listening to the baby’s heartbeat
- Room for questions and worries
- Discussing and aligning further follow-up
Prenatal classes

Looking for more information? Our information sessions help you look forward to the birth and the first period with your child with knowledge, confidence and a reassured feeling. From 32 weeks of pregnancy you can choose a personal session at your home, with plenty of room for questions and individual support.
For each session we allow about 1.5 to 2 hours. We use visuals and practical examples and share plenty of useful, evidence-based information, so you’re well prepared and can make conscious choices that suit your family.
Labour & birth
We prepare you calmly and practically for the birth of your child. Among other things we discuss:
- how and when labour usually starts and how to recognise the signs
- what contractions are and how they can feel
- the importance of a calm and safe environment
- hormones, relaxation and trust during labour
- the course of birth in the 4 stages of labour
- when it’s time to leave for the hospital
- what happens in a delivery room
- breathing, positions and ways to cope with contractions
- the partner’s role during the birth
- the importance of mindset, trust and letting go
We also take time to dispel myths and make room for all your questions, so you can look forward to the birth with more calm and confidence.
Breastfeeding
We prepare you for the start and build-up of breastfeeding, with realistic expectations. Among other things we discuss:
- breastfeeding and pregnancy
- how breastfeeding starts after birth
- the importance of skin-to-skin contact and an early start
- recognising hunger and feeding signals
- correct latch and positions
- what “good feeding” means for a baby (frequency, behaviour, growth)
- common challenges in the first days and weeks
- pain, cracks and how to prevent or address them
- engorgement, milk supply and how it develops
- pumping, combining with bottle feeding or returning to work
- the partner’s role
So you start the breastfeeding period with more calm and realistic knowledge.
Loss of a pregnancy
The loss of a pregnancy or baby is a profound event that can completely shake your world. From a positive pregnancy test, a bond with your child already grows, so the grief can be very real and intense, no matter how early the pregnancy was. Grieving is a personal process that takes time, space and gentleness.
A midwife can support you during this time with medical follow-up, a listening ear and guidance through your grief. We monitor physical recovery, are available for questions and also offer emotional support, at home or by phone, at your own pace. You are entitled to a number of consultations with a midwife. You are not alone, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Contact a midwifeFrequently asked questions about prenatal care
Does a midwife replace my gynaecologist?
No. Midwifery care complements the medical follow-up by your gynaecologist or GP, it does not replace it. We coordinate with the hospital caring for you and refer on in a targeted way where needed.
How many prenatal consultations am I entitled to?
You are entitled to 12 prenatal consultations with the midwife. We plan them together, tailored to your needs and pace, in coordination with the hospital.
From when can I follow prenatal classes?
From 32 weeks of pregnancy you can choose a personal information session at your home (about 1.5 to 2 hours), about labour and birth and about breastfeeding.
Can I turn to Juno after a pregnancy loss?
Yes. A midwife can support you with medical follow-up, a listening ear and guidance through grief, at home or by phone, at your own pace. You are entitled to a number of consultations.
